About HFS Andrology
HFS Andrology Laboratory serves the Greater Houston community providing semen analysis, sperm processing and comprehensive male infertility services. We have locations in Houston in the Texas Medical Center, Webster, Sugar Land and Katy, Texas.
Andrology services are available with or without a doctor’s orders. To request a semen analysis or male infertility evaluation through your physician, please contact your urologist, your OBGYN, or your primary care physician. If you do not have a physician you may self-refer. All patients need to make an appointment.
Our history
HFS Andrology Laboratory is one of the longest running andrology laboratories in Houston and is an affiliate of Houston Fertility Specialists. The providers at Houston Fertility Specialists include George M. Grunert, M.D., Randall C. Dunn, M.D., R.K. Mangal, M.D., Leah Schenk, M.D., Subodh Chauhan, M.D., Ertug Kovanci, M.D. and Yanett Anaya, M.D.
George M. Grunert, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., F.A.C.S. - Medical Director, Assisted Reproductive Technology Program
Dr. George M. Grunert graduated from Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. He completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Regional Medical Center, Oakland and Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of California San Francisco. He returned to Houston to found the IVF program at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. This later became Houston Fertility Specialists. He has been the Medical Director for the HSF Andrology Laboratory since its inception.
George M. Grunert, M.D., F.A.C.O.G., F.A.C.S. - Medical Director, Assisted Reproductive Technology Program
Dr. George M. Grunert graduated from Rice University and Baylor College of Medicine. He completed postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Regional Medical Center, Oakland and Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of California San Francisco. He returned to Houston to found the IVF program at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. This later became Houston Fertility Specialists. He has been the Medical Director for the HSF Andrology Laboratory since its inception.
Wan-Song Alfred Wun, Ph.D., HCLD (ABB) - Laboratory Director
Our laboratory director, Dr. Wan-Song Alfred Wun, has served as director since 1988.
Dr. Wun was among the first group of embryologists/scientists certified as High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) in 1996 by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB). He is also certified as Andrology Laboratory Director (ALD), Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD), and Clinical Consultant (CC) by ABB. Dr. Wun has practiced Assisted Reproductive Technology for more than 30 years. He has accumulated precious experience and knowledge and has presented and published more than 100 studies in international meetings and journals.
